Important Update: AGM, Nominations for the Committee 2025

Dear Members,

We are pleased to inform you that during today’s committee meeting, a majority vote has reinstated our commitment to the democratic and transparent system previously in place. Effective tomorrow (5th of February), nomination sheets will be available at the blackboard next to the locker rooms,  for your participation.

As part of this renewed approach, we are excited to implement our long-tested nomination system. Platinum and Gold members are invited to nominate themselves or fellow members for individual positions on the Committee 2025. Please remember that the name of the proposer must be included with each nomination.

Additionally, we encourage all members who will be nominated to submit their CVs to the proprietors at golf@remuproperties.com, which has been designated for this purpose.

The following positions are listed: 

  • Vice Captain
  • Treasurer
  • MembersRep
  • Social Secretary 
  • CompCoordinator *
  • IT Rep 

*The proprietor has confirmed that the Committee is responsible for organising golf competitions.

AGM Notice

Dear members,
After seeing the AGM notice sent by DoG on January 31, 2025 and upon intense consultations with the Committee members an Extraordinary Committee meeting is scheduled at 14:00 after the Club competition on Tuesday, February 4th.
The Committee finds it unconstitutional that the Management interferes with the 2025 Committee nominations and wants to completely change the usual democratic and transparent process when the nominations’ sheets are posted in the Club for everyone to sign up and to see, which has been followed every year. 
Moreover, each nomination must be proposed and seconded by at least two members, which is absolutely impossible under the proposed new system when members are asked to directly send their own nominations to an unknown email address. 
The Notice is also incorrect in stating that “Nominations received will be formally announced on Monday, 17th February 2025 along with the election procedure and proxy voting details” as the election procedure and voting rights are clearly defined in the Club Constitution.

Financial Statement for period to 31st January 2025

Dear Member,
I attach the Financial Statement for the twelve-month period ended 31st January 2025.
It is the data included in this Statement that I will address in my Treasurer’s Report at the forthcoming AGM.  I will happily answer any question that the Membership present at that meeting with to raise.
I have received assurances from all Committee Members that they are unaware of any income or expenditure items that should be included in the Statement and that have been omitted.  I similarly state that I believe that all financial matters pertaining to the Club’s finances have been duly recorded in the Statement.
Over past months, I have shown growing provision balances for financial liabilities for both Club and Charity related matters.  I confirm that all of these liabilities have been fully discharged over the last ten days or so.  Consequently, I confirm that this is a “clean” Statement where the assets of the Club (primarily Cash) are intact and free from any known future liabilities.

Hospital and other news

Dear Members
Apologies.  The list of member woes is getting longer.
Terry Scott – having a heart procedure 4th Feb.  
Dave Hardy – had to go back into hospital for more treatment.
Tony Hawke – having a triple heart by-pass in a few weeks.
Lisa Wells – no further details.
Blue Turnpenny – slower progress than 1st time round.
Some good news:
Kathy Lawson – after her recent fall, all is now well.
All the very best to each and everyone of the above and we look forward to seeing you at the Valley fighting fit again soon (actually no fighting please).
