Lucas Adamou (update from Jeni Spoor)

Dear Members
Not all of you know this young man who worked at Secret Valley Clubhouse before he discovered he was suffering from Lymphoma.  At the time Lucas was just 22 years old and an apparently fit young man who enjoyed life.  Golfers were always greeted with a big smile from a guy who loved life and being around people.
Lucas has now begun his third year of intensive cancer treatment and he needs our support.  Each of these years has been difficult in the extreme with grueling chemo therapies and immune therapy.  Last year the team at the Oncology Centre in Limassol drew all the blood from Lucas’ body, ‘washed’ it and then it was intravenously replaced in his body.  They hoped this would completely rid his body of cancer cells.  (Throughout this time Lucas smiled his warm and friendly smile.)  Unfortunately this invasive treatment did not work for him.
This year Lucas has been undergoing a similar treatment but the cancer is still there.  He now needs a stem cell transplant and is on an international database in the search for a match.  In the meantime the invasive treatment continues along with more biopsies as the cancer seems to have reached other organs in his body.
Tuesday’s St Patrick’s Day is raising monies to help support Lucas.  This young man asks for nothing and remains optimistic throughout, although it is becoming more difficult.  It is becoming harder to smile!!  Iona has organised a fun day for the members and I ask you to give her lots of support.  All proceeds from the day will go to Lucas.

MEMBERS’ UPDATE: CLUB STRUCTURE AND 2026 SEASON PLANS

Following recent discussions regarding the Club structure for the coming season, we would like to update you on the governance arrangements for 2026.

Club Administration Update

As Columbia Secret Valley Resort continues its transition under the new ownership and management structure, Columbia Secret Valley Golf will operate during the 2026 season without a formal Members’ Committee.

The existing management team, together with the existing competitions team and the continued support of our membership, will ensure that all sporting and administrative aspects of the Club continue to run smoothly and efficiently.

This transitional approach allows both the Resort and the Club to focus on what matters most in the coming season – the quality of the course, the competitions calendar, and the overall member and visitor experience – whilst also providing the necessary time to carefully consider the most appropriate and beneficial long-term governance structure for the Club and its membership.

Your feedback is extremely valuable and will play an important role in guiding the future development of the Club and ensuring that members’ views are fully considered as we develop an optimum long-term structure.

New Ongoing Feedback Options

Members are always welcome to speak directly with Nicos, Adam, or the Golf Operations team, who remain available to assist with any suggestions or queries.

We are also launching a dedicated email address [email protected] – (live from 12 noon tomorrow) through which members can share feedback, suggestions, or questions directly with the Club’s management at any time.


This is an exciting time for our Club and the wider Resort, and we invite you all to be a part of it. As more developments are launched, we will keep you fully updated.

Dog Relocation Update and Donation Collection

Dear Members,
As many of you will already be aware, the stray dogs that had been staying around the clubhouse over the past couple of months have now been safely relocated to the A.I.R.S. Foundation in Anarita, where they will receive any medical care they may require and be looked after until, hopefully, they can be successfully rehomed.
The A.I.R.S. Foundation relies heavily on public donations to continue its work. Keith, the founder, together with a small group of volunteers, currently provides shelter and care for more than 80 dogs, which is a significant undertaking.
If any members would like to make a small donation to support their work, we will be placing a donation box in the Pro Shop and will be happy to collect contributions over the coming weeks. Brian Shubrook has kindly offered to pass these on to Keith on behalf of all Secret Valley members.
