This can be accessed, after successfully logging in, via the Blue button marked “Financial Reports” and a copy will shortly be posted on the Club noticeboard near the changing rooms.

Christmas Presents for Ukrainian Children- 2024

Dear Members,

I am continuing to coordinate the aid to Ukrainian families in Paphos.
Life in 2024 has become increasingly difficult for the mothers and their children, as the rents have continued to increase sharply, as demand for rental properties continues to outstrip supply.

As a consequence, with wages remaining constant, the pressure has intensified on their ability to have enough money to pay the rent, and also buy food for their children.  Therefore, very little surplus is available to purchase any Christmas presents for their children.
In the last 2 years, I have asked Secret Valley Golf Members if they will donate a gift to these children, to help them enjoy their Christmas during such difficult times.
So again, this year, I am asking members to donate a small gift to these children.
I have agreed with Toma, that the presents can be placed at the base of the Christmas tree, which will shortly be seen as you enter the Clubhouse.

Could I please ask that any gifts donated are clearly labelled, with either Boy or Girl – or also Boy & Girl , if the gift is suitable for either child. And also labelled with the age range they are designated for :-
The age ranges are :-
1 -3 years 
4-6 years 
7-10 years 
11-15 years
A Christmas Party has been arranged for the children on Saturday 14 th December, so I would appreciate the donations prior to this date.  I very much appreciate every contribution, which will help make this Christmas so much better for these children, who have gone through, and are continuing to go through, so much, in the last 2 years.

Update – Loukas Adamou

Dear members, 
Today I met with Natalie, Loukas’s mum and she updated me on Loukas’s progress.  After undergoing over 90 hours of intensive chemotherapy over the last few weeks the tumor in the thorax has not reduced in size as the doctors had hoped.  His team of Oncology specialists are meeting on Monday to decide on the best course of action.  
Obviously this is a distressing and worrying time for Loukas and his family.  He is putting on a very brave face and is remarkably strong in his outlook.
Support for the Charity Day next month has been remarkable, but I hope we can achieve more to help this young man and his family celebrate Christmas as best they can.  For that I need YOUR help!
I have quite a number of interesting raffle prizes but more will be gratefully received.  Some people are sponsoring a hole for €50;  the name will be on the tee of the hole on the day.  Christmas bites for the Halfway House would be very welcome. 🙏. 
Loukas’s parents both hope to help out on the day, and if he is well enough Loukas may also come along.

Quiz Night on Friday November 22nd

Ted McMichael and Jon Broadhead are jointly hosting a Xmas Quiz at SVGC on Friday 22nd November. KO 6.30 pm.


Just a fun seasonal event with easy questions, open to all Members and their guests. Teams of 4 or 6 persons. €5 entry per person, winning teams get Cash prizes.

Suspension of competition levy

Dear Member,

As advised in my preamble to the October Financial Statement, the Committee is actively engaged in identifying judicious ways in which to lower Members’ Funds, which are considered to be in excess of that prudently required to address unforeseen events/costs.

As part of this programme, the Committee is pleased to announce the SUSPENSION of the 10% levy to Members’ Funds applied to competition entry fees. This will have immediate effect, starting with today’s SVOOM competition, and remain until the end of January 2025. Any decision to re-instate the levy, and its level, will be made by the 2025 Committee based upon circumstances at that time.

The Committee recognises that those Members who support Committee organised competitions have created the surplus in Members’ Funds and regard the suspension of the 10% levy to be a direct way of specifically rewarding those Members.
