We had a tough away match at Elea today and although many of our players were absolutely new to the team, I think we did well and put up a good fight on their turf. We lost 3 to 7 and not a single match ended in a draw. The greens at Elea presented the main difficulty as they were a lot faster than ours and sometimes a simple two-putt was a great achievement.
I would like to personally thank Dave Hardy who substituted me on a very short notice and who played brilliantly by scoring an Eagle on hole #2 and putting fear into the opposition which resulted in a very important first flight win.
I also would like to congratulate two of our new members Steven Farnworth and Jon Broadhead on their match win on the last hole. Steven's paying handicap was +2 and one can only imagine how uneasy it was for him.
A big thank you goes to the last flight in the competition where Dave Grant and Michael Mason have completely demolished the opposition finishing 5 & 4.
Congratulations to all 20 players of the Secret Valley team, it has been a good sporting and a friendly social event.
We are now starting preparations for the next match against Minthis that will take place in our club on March 8th. The team members will be notified shortly.
