Interclub match with Korineum results

Dear members,

Congratulations on our win this Wednesday 12th July! It wasn’t easy, the opposition put on a real fight in almost every match, but we have finished the 2023 Interclub season on a high note. The atmosphere of the match has again been very friendly and the matches for the next year agreed.

Interclub Away Match vs AH 2023-05-17

Dear members,

 

We had great and a highly contested away match against Aphrodite Hills on May 17th which we lost 4-6 but showed our best away performance. We had five players who participated in such event for the first time this year and I am happy to say that the total number of entries to the 2023 Interclub competitions is now approaching 70 which is an all-time high. 

 

Aphrodite Hills team will visit us on June 7th and we have a very good chance of winning the Venus Rock Cup.

 

Well done to all the teammates and a special thank you goes to Dave Hardy who has won 100% of his four matches.

Interclub Away Match vs MHGC 2023-04-05

We had a great away match against MHGC on April 5th.  It looked very promising as we won 3 of the first 4 matches. However, something must have happened after 9 am as we lost all of the remaining matches, so the end result was 3 to 7.  Overall MHGC won 11.5 to 8.5.  
 
This year the winning team was awarded a trophy called the Hill Valley Cup. Hopefully we can win it back next year!
 
We will have a Away match (May) and a Home match (June) against AH.  Selections for these teams will be made soon.
 
In June, for the first-time we plan to have home and away matches with the team of Korineum Golf Club. The away match will be played under a package deal (two rounds of golf + half-board + one night hotel accommodation). We will soon be asking for members willing to play at Korineum.

Elea Interclub Result March 22, 2023

Dear Members,

On March 22nd we played a match with Elea team here at Secret Valley. The game was extremely competitive with 6 out of 10 flights deciding the result on the 18th hole. The match ended with a 5-5 draw. The feedback received from both team's players was overwhelmingly positive which was also helped by an excellent work of our Food & Beverage team. The size of our Fish & Chips portions pleasantly surprised the guests.

Apart from sport it was also a very nice social event where many friendships have been established. I will give you a quote from a message of Elea's Vice Captain following the match ” Thank you and your Secret Valley team for our match today. Good match, great company, excellent food and course in general was in very good condition”.

 

I am very grateful to all match participants for their efforts and let's keep up good performance as we still have three interclub matches ahead.

Result – Inter Club Match v Elea (Away) on Wed 22 Feb 23

We had a tough away match at Elea today and although many of our players were absolutely new to the team, I think we did well and put up a good fight on their turf. We lost 3 to 7 and not a single match ended in a draw. The greens at Elea presented the main difficulty as they were a lot faster than ours and sometimes a simple two-putt was a great achievement. 
I would like to personally thank Dave Hardy who substituted me on a very short notice and who played brilliantly by scoring an Eagle on hole #2 and putting fear into the opposition which resulted in a very important first flight win. 
I also would like to congratulate two of our new members Steven Farnworth and Jon Broadhead on their match win on the last hole. Steven's paying handicap was +2 and one can only imagine how uneasy it was for him.
A big thank you goes to the last flight in the competition where Dave Grant and Michael Mason have completely demolished the opposition finishing 5 & 4.
Congratulations to all 20 players of the Secret Valley team, it has been a good sporting and a friendly social event.
We are now starting preparations for the next match against Minthis that will take place in our club on March 8th. The team members will be notified shortly.
