Happy Easter Wishes
Dear Members
On this joyful Easter occasion, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to you and also thank you for the fantastic turnout at the “Easter Golden Golf Ball Hunt”! With 67 members searching for 18 golden golf balls and the cheeky bunnies waiting in two bunkers for the players, it was an unforgettable event. The Easter Bunny surely snagged a few balls at the 18th hole! The cheerful faces on the balcony during the awards ceremony, along with a delicious piece of cake, perfectly highlighted the festive atmosphere.
A heartfelt thank you for your generous support yesterday! The two bunkers, the donation box at the halfway house, and the spontaneous auction of my prize items raised a total of €387.34. A special thanks goes out to everyone who signed my banner. My personal donation to the “Ronald McDonald House Organization” amounts to €132.
So, a total of €519.34 will go to the Club Captain's charity! While there is still a long way to go to reach my target, each event brings us a little closer.
A big thank you to everyone who helped to make this day so special.

As a new initiative, the 2025 Committee has been working on transitioning to a new
communications platform to inform members of upcoming events to diarize..
As part of this
initiative, we will periodically publish a regular and highly focussed newsletter highlighting
key forward events for the upcoming 4-6 weeks.
We look forward to informing members of our progress over the coming months, as we
work hard to implement the change initiatives, whilst offering a wide range of engaging golf
and social events for our club members.

SVGR 2025 Club Championship
The annual Club Championship in 2025 will
be held over the weekend of Sat 17 &
Sun 18 May 2025.
This being the premier golfing event for our
Club, the 2025 Committee seeks to inform Members that the Secret Valley Golf Club
Championship will feature our best club golfers playing for the lowest gross
and net score prizes on both days, in addition to the overall gross and net prizes.
Please note that there will be no alternative
events offered on the two playing days of the Club Championship to ensure our premier
golfing event will take centre stage.
[Throughout the 2025 season, Members have
been and will continue to be offered a selection of regular multi-tee medal and
stableford competitions, plus numerous fun golfing events to satisfy the
diverse needs of our golfing community.]
The criterion for entering the 2025 Club
Championship is set our below:
–
All players registering for the
Club Championship must hold an active financial membership to Secret Valley
Golf Club (and priority to registering will be assigned to players in the
following membership order, namely Platinum, Gold, Twilight, Executive, Other).
Post the event registration cut-off date, any late entries will be accumulated
in a strict date and time order and vacancies filled based on this numerical
order prior to the official draw for Day-1.
–
All players registering for the
event must hold an active Cyprus Golf Federation membership (irrespective of the
local home club where their handicap is maintained).
–
All players registering for the
event must have completed a minimum of six qualifying competitions played at
Secret Valley Golf Club in the immediate past twelve-month period prior to the event
registration closing date.
–
All players will play from
scratch. Men will play from the White tees, and the Ladies will play from the Blue
tees. Note that handicap cut-off limits are not assigned to this event. A player’s
WHS handicap will remain unchanged for both days of the competition, and will
only be considered for determining the event prizes for the lowest net results.
–
All registered players,
regardless of their gender, will play in strict handicap order on Day-1, and on
Day-2 the draw will start from highest to lowest gross scores based on the Day-1
results.
The 2025 entry fee is Euro 10 and covers
both competition days and must be settled in full at registration on May 17th
irrespective of if you plan to play 1 or 2 days.

I am thrilled to introduce the newly committee of the Secret Valley Golf Club (SVGC) for 2025:

Our dedicated team is comprised of passionate golfers and golf enthusiasts who are eager to support the club and foster a welcoming and enjoyable golfing environment for everyone.
As many of you may have noticed, we have about six weeks less to organize an exciting year for you, but rest assured, we are working diligently to ensure that 2025 is a fantastic year at the Secret Valley Golf Club. We held our kick-off meeting on March 4th and are united in our goal: to create a year filled with engaging golf, fun, and camaraderie.
Our first official meeting was held on March 8th. We regrettably ran out of time to announce the day’s competition winners on the balcony. I do apologize.

As I mentioned during my speech at the AGM, one of my personal goals this year is to raise €15,000 for the Club Captain’s Charity: the "Ronald McDonald House Organization" in Nicosia. This is an important cause that provides vital support for families facing challenging situations due to a sick child. The funds raised will cover the cost of a family room for three years in "A Home Away From Home." I kindly ask for your support in this noble endeavor.
I am happy to report that our first event, the "Captains Drive In," has already helped us make progress toward our goal, raising an impressive €1,403! It was a wonderful day filled with fun and socializing, and you can find photos and videos from the event on social media and our website.
We have exciting year-round promotions that not only offer you chances to win but also support the Captain’s Charity:
- 150 Club (details available on our website)
- Captains Charity Parking Lot: €5 per raffle ticket (monthly draw)
- Free Annual Membership in 2026: €10 per raffle ticket
- Captain/DoG/Pro Challenge: Compete against us on select dates throughout the year. The cost is €25 per player, benefiting the Captain’s Charity. Sign-up sheets are available on the pinboard near the locker rooms—register now! Mondays, 3 dates: Captain and DoG Challenge. Fridays, 3 dates: Captain/ Pro Challenge.
Our committee members, along with Kirill Lyushinsky, will be selling raffle tickets. Best of luck to everyone! Starting next week, you can also purchase raffle tickets (excluding those for the 150 Club) in the Pro Shop. We are looking for volunteers who can help us with selling our tickets throughout the year. If you want to participate please contact me.
We are currently working on a regular newsletter for 2025, which will keep you informed about upcoming special events, interclub activities, and more. Stay tuned, and don’t forget to check the pinboard for the latest news!

SVGC 2025 Knockout Competitions
Dear Members
I am pleased to announce that player entries for the 2025 Knockout Competitions will open for registration via our club website from today Sunday 9 March 2025.
There is a large selection of knockout competitions to choose from for both gender specific categories, as well as mixed knock-out competitions. The registration fee payable per player / per competition entered is Euro 5. Please pay your knock out competition registration fee/s at the ProShop. Online registrations made without the corresponding registration fees/s being settled at the Proshop by the close-off date will be declared invalid.
The closing date for entry to all 2025 knock-out competitions will be 5 pm on Friday 28 March 2025.

The round-1 draws for each 2025 knock-out competition will be uploaded to the club website by Monday 31 March 2025, and the round-1 competitions may commence from Tuesday 1 April 2025.

A two-month lull will take place during the months of July and August 2025 as many members are away.
Requests for extensions will not be considered or approved.
Note the first named person or team (proposer) indicated in each draw is responsible for proposing three dates to their opponent/s by which to complete their knock out match. This must include a mid-week morning tee time/date, a mid-week afternoon tee time/date, and a weekend tee time/date.
Failure to nominate the fixture dates and/or complete the scheduled fixture will rest with the proposer/s (unless the opponent/s fail to respond to the proposer/s or show-up for the agreed scheduled match).
The Vice Captain will be the sole arbitrator for awarding matches (as a last resort) in such circumstances.
The completion of both individual and team knockout matches respectively will be decided by late November 2025.
I look forward to receiving a large number of entries for the 2025 knockout competitions, and to encourage all individual and team players to enjoy this form of socially competitive golf.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all members who participated in our first golf event "Captains Drive In" on Saturday. The event was fully booked, and it was a great pleasure to see so many of you on the terrace and later in the clubhouse.
I am delighted that we were able to fulfill what I promised at the Annual General Meeting (AGM): good golf, fun on the course and smiling faces in the clubhouse. Additionally, we had a culinary journey into my hometown of Berlin, which many of you enjoyed. And let's not forget the delicious cake!
On that day, we were able to award 19 attractive prizes to the winners, but the real winner is the Club Captains Charity, the "Ronald McDonald House Organization." A remarkable total of €1,403 was raised! This includes: - Sale of Raffle tickets for the Monthly Parking lot : €100 - Sale of the Raffle tickets for the Free annual membership 2026: €820 - "Guess the Distance of the Captains Drive -178y 163m-": €326 - Signatures on the banner: €52 - Private donations: €105
