Captains Day 2025 – Thank you for your Support –

By

Dear All,

I would like to take the opportunity of Captains Day 2025 to express my heartfelt gratitude to all members who actively supported me and who would like to continue to support my goal of raising €15.000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. This amount will enable the RMDHC to cover the costs of maintaining a family apartment for a period of three years. Through this support, we are helping many families who have a sick child during a particularly challenging time in their lives. Your commitment makes a significant difference and provides hope and support for families in need.

A heartfelt thank you to our main sponsors in 2025 for their generous support. Your assistance is invaluable and significantly contributes to our success. The members and myself truly appreciate your trust and partnership.

Yours,
Catrin Koring

Competitions Letter

By

Dear Members

I understand that our last email regarding competition formats caused some confusion and disappointment.  Our intention is to create  a fair playing field for golfers of all levels.

With the introduction of 4 set divisions and corresponding tee colours, we had hoped to ensure fairness for all handicaps.

Not all aspects and sensitivities were taken into account, and the committee held a new vote on Sunday/Monday regarding the following regulations, with a majority voting in favor of introducing these tournament rules:

*   Four set divisions (classifications may need to be adjusted to WHS guidelines).

*   Multi-tee option for all players.

*    Men may play from the blue tee box and this tee has been sloped for the men.  This is an additional choice for male players.

We wish all Members enjoyment and success playing the SV course.

For and on behalf of your committee

Trial of 4 divisions for Individual Stablefords and Medals

By

Dear members

The committee agreed at the meeting on Friday 12th September to a trial of multi-tee medal and stableford tournaments
with four set handicap divisions with set tees, by using the slope ratings to group tees together, for the remainder of the 2025 season.

The trial will commence with the Tuesday stableford tournament on 14th October.

Furthermore, we would encourage all members to read the USGA Article 2024/10 (link enclosed) which explains course rating vs. slope rating, along with the general definitions provided below in respect to the SVGR course ratings, bogey ratings, and slope ratings.

https: www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/aticle/202410course-rating-vs-slope-rating.html

Secret Valley Golf Resort – Course
Ratings, Bogey Ratings and Slope Ratings

Scratch Player

A player with a Handicap Index® of 0.0

Bogey Player

A player with a Handicap Index of approximately 20.0 for
men and approximately 24.0 for women

Course Rating™

An indication of the difficulty of a golf
course for the scratch player under normal course and weather conditions.
Example: 68.5

Bogey Rating™

An indication of the difficulty of a golf
course for the bogey player under normal course and weather conditions..
Example: 96.3

Slope Rating®

An indication of the relative difficulty of a
golf course for players who are not scratch players compared to players who are
scratch players. The lowest Slope Rating is 55 and the highest is 155.
Example:125

We have extensively examined the topic within the committee and discussed the best possible regulation for members of
each handicap group under the multi-tee trial. The division into four strict handicap groups with set tees allows each player to compete with peers from the same handicap group.

SVGR has always been committed to promoting social inclusion. With this solution, we have succeeded in doing so again. The trial until the end of the 2025 season will show us whether we are on the right track. There may never be a perfect solution, but we are confident that the majority of the members will respond positively to the four divisions.

Let’s take on this exciting challenge together and give it a try!

Best regards

Please note that the day will be a bit more relaxed on the course, with music                   (somewhere) and various non-alcoholic drink stations. When you see me on the golf course, please greet me with a big smile when the camera clicks! A little shot might help with that?

Raffle: I have purchased several prizes for the raffle and would love for you to bring along bottle donations . I will have a box ready in Tomas’s office where you can drop off your contributions. A big thank you in advance!

Your culinary needs will be taken care of: expect a German Oktoberfest buffet and freshly tapped German beer! The first Paulaner beer and the food are free. The awards ceremony will take place right after the tournament. When the mood is right, we might even dance! 💃🏽 🕺🏼

What does this fun cost? Entry is only €10, which goes directly to the “Ronald McDonald House Charity.” For that, you will receive two stripes of raffle tickets.

I’m looking forward to celebrating with you again, as you have shown this year that you know how to have a great time!

From the heart, your Club Captain Catrin Koring
