Draw methodology – a review

Dear Members
The Committee promised to review the method used for competitions, namely the rotation of handicap order.
A cross-section of members were approached for their view.  The Committee agreed a fair representation of the membership were consulted.
We are hereby notifying all members the following revision to the way in which draws for competitions and associated aspects will operate.
The 3 time slots will remain.
The 6 week advance entry system will remain.
Fun comps:-
Pairs will continue to be drawn with another pair.
3 or 4 Person Team members can request who they team up with.
Qualifying comps:-
Stablefords etc. will be drawn randomly.


Medals will remain in handicap order.
Please note the buggy sharing, travelling together, and ‘will not play with’ exceptions remain.
Members are not entitled to specific tee times.  This is wholly unfair on other members.
These changes will come into effect from 1st June 2024.  Any member disagreeing with the changes should write to the Committee.
A further review will be undertaken in the future.

Comps Brief – Red Tee Stableford on Tue 21 May 24

Dear Members, 

The Official Draw for the Red Tee Stableford on Tue 21 May 24 has been published on the website. 
Due to late withdrawals, there are 3 Spaces Available. Reply asap if you wish to play. 
Pre Printed Red Tee Scorecards can be collected from the Pro Shop upon check in.

Please arrive in good time to register and ensure that you are in the vicinity of the 1st tee 10 minutes prior to your tee time. 

Please keep to your allocated tee time – Do not tee off earlier than your tee time – the 10 min gap is there for a reason. 

Electric & Push Trollies 
Hole 4 – Players are to remain on the cart path on this hole. 

All Holes – Players are requested to keep trollies 2 METERS AWAY from the perimeter of ALL GREENS. 

Local Rules 

It is the Players responsibility to be aware of the Local Rules at Secret Valley which can be found outside of the Pro Shop and on the members website: https://www.secretvalleygolfresort.net/local-rules-new/

Players Responsibility:  

Play by the Rules of Golf at all times

 

Players are reminded that the golf course can be dangerous in places (Steep slopes in rough, concrete buggy paths and along the river running through the course) and to exercise extreme caution when you walk along, enter, cross, attempt play or retrieve their ball from these areas which is at your own risk.

 

Player Etiquette:

For a matter of safety please have regard for your fellow players and green keeping staff at all times. Shout “FORE” if there is a danger of your ball hitting anyone.


Mobile Phones: 

Please refrain from using your mobile phone for calls on the golf course unless in an emergency. Ensure it is in silent mode to avoid distracting your playing partners. Your mobile phone is permitted for distance measurement use.  


Pace of Play    

Play “Ready Golf” if it is safe to do. 


It's a Stableford – Pick up if you can not score on a hole. 


All Players are reminded that under the R&A – Rules of Golf – Rule 182a, a Player is allowed 3 Minutes to search for their ball before it becomes “Lost”. 


It is your groups responsibility to keep up with the group in front and not just ahead of the group behind and follow the Course Marshalls instructions at all times.

 

Rake Bunkers and Repair Pitch Marks.


Scorecard

Player and Marker are to check and confirm that the Gross score for each hole is correct. 

Player and Marker are to check and both sign that the scorecard is correct.

Place your completed scorecard into the Competitions Box promptly after completion of your round.

Results 


The Captain will announce the results on the balcony shortly after the last flight finishes.

The Provisional Draw (72 Players) for the SV Order of Merit 3 on Sat 18 May 24 has been published on the website 
There are 5 Players on the Reserve List

If you find you can no longer play, please reply asap so a Reserve Player can be allocated. 
The Official Draw draw will be published on Friday @ 12.00  
The draw will be in the following WHS Index order (with some exceptions) 
Flights of 4 at 10 minute intervals. 
Early Tees (0700-0750) – High to Low 
Middle Tees (0800-0900) – 
High to Low   
Late Tees (0910-0950) – High to Low

Captains Shootout

Dear Members
You may have received a Withdrawal from competition email tonight.
There was an error in the Portal entry facility, and at my request Webmaster has taken it down.
The Captain’s Shootout is by invitation only.
For those who do not know the competitors (11 men and 11 ladies) in handicap and availability order are chosen to compete until one man and one lady are left.
