Meeting with Heinrich and Alexander Schoeller – Schoeller Holdings Ltd.

2 December, 2025 By SVGR Captain

Dear members,

It is thanks to Brian Shuhbrook that today a pleasant working meeting with the Schöller Holdings Ltd , in Limassol, took place. As most members know, the German company “Schöller Holdings Ltd “ is now the new owner of the Secret Valley Golf Resort. I was particularly pleased that the Chairman, Heinrich Schöller himself, as well as his Chief Financial Officer Kyriakos and Alexander Schöller, Commercial Director, also participated. Everyone welcomed that this appointment to get to know each other could take place in a timely manner. In consultation with Mr. H. Schöller, I can name the points that specifically concern the concerns of the SVGR.

Let’s start with the most exciting.

– Membership fees: Expected no increase or only a moderate adjustment.

– Member club: the interest of the investor is that the membership base of the golf club is expanded and remains an integral part of the resort.

– Clubhouse: the investor will take into account the daily routine of the golf game during the planned renovation and extension work, as far as possible, so that no significant impairments are to be expected.

– Gastronomy: according to the first research of the Schöller Group, it is clear that the offer for food and drinks must be improved and the goal is that the offer is adapted to a sporty hotel standard. In the future, the offer will also be expanded at dinner times.

Presentation Dinner: since, according to my information, the event could not take place in the clubhouse, our Social Secretary tried to find an alternative location (Alexander the Great Hotel). Since we have no guarantee for this to take place, since the number of participants is uncertain, I have described the problem to Mr. Schöller. Heinrich Schöller reacted immediately and informed me that he would immediately check what alternative he could offer us. On the same day, he confirmed to me that our presentation dinner at the Columbiar Beach Resort could take place at the same conditions (€75 AI). This is an enormous concession, as we can now hold our presentation dinner as part of a 5* hotel.

– Buggies: surely some have wondered that our new buggies are roadworthy. These were leased by the investor, and the same are also used at the Columbia Resort. Alexander Schöller has recognised the problem with the handbrake and will check how our new buggies can be adapted for golf operation.

Overall, the meeting took place in an open atmosphere, and I am convinced that the Schoeller Group will also bring about positive changes in our golf club. Heinrich Schöller personally assured me that I can contact him at any time with the interests of the golf club and thus keep you up to date on important developments regarding the golf course in the future.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Brian S. for organizing the meeting and to Joanne Heyworth for her unwavering commitment to the presentation dinner.

Best regards,

Catrin Koring

Happy St. Andrew‘s Day

Happy St Andrew’s Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Dear Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, sponsors, and dedicated volunteers of yesterday’s St. Andrew’s Day event. It was truly a fantastic day filled with fun and wonderful prizes!

A big congratulations to the winning team: Erica and Jon Broadhead, along with Olga Pushakova and Sergey Pushakov, who successfully played with an impressive score of 102 points!

As always, the creative outfits of some members caught our eyes and made us look twice. Mags Cooley (Lassie) and Blue Turnpenny (Jock) were voted as the Best Dressed members—absolutely fantastic!

The donation box at the Halfway House was filled with €247.87, and we also received a generous private donation of €50 from one of our members. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to support the Captains Charity 2025!

This was our final event of the year, and I want to thank all the members who actively engaged in organizing our International Days throughout 2025. Your vibrant creativity and heartfelt dedication have truly made our events special!

Warm regards,
Catrin Koring
Club Captain

P.S: More photos from yesterday will be published on our website soon.

Update – Loukas Adamou

14 November, 2025 By Jamie Evans

Hello everyone

The doctors at the Oncology Hospital have now decided on another course of treatment for Loukas.
On Monday 17 November he will begin a new course of immunotherapy treatment, but the protocol is different this time.  It seems that this will last about 6 months.  After the course of immunotherapy he will require another transplant but this time they must find a match.  It is hoped that his sister will make the match.
I know your thoughts will be with Loukas and his family as they all face another difficult Year.
Best wishes

Poppies

10 November, 2025 By Jamie Evans

Hello everyone
I am very sorry but this year I am unable to sell poppies in support of veterans and families because the Government of Cyprus has refused to grant charitable status to the Royal British Legion.  Poppies may be sold only on Sovereign Base Areas.
This decision is totally unfathomable!
Secret Valley Golf Club has raised considerable sums over the years and I feel very sad, that for this year at least, there will be no poppies available for members.
Thank you for your support over the years.
Best wishes to all

Thank You for Your Incredible Support- Our Family Room at the Ronald McDonald House

31 October, 2025 By SVGR Captain

Dear Members,

I am delighted to inform you that we have not only reached our goal of €15,000 but have exceeded it by over €3,000 in just eight months! I want to extend my sincerest thanks to each and every one of you who contributed through your participation in our events, whether on the course, buying a number of the 150 Club , joining the Quiz Nights, or “rent” the Captain’s Charity Parking Place. A special shout-out goes to our sponsors this year, whose generosity has been instrumental in supporting this important project.

Today, we celebrated the symbolic handover of “our” family room. Room number 10 will now proudly showcase our SV logo as a door sign for the next three years. As you can see in the photos (photos and the video available on our website), the rooms have been designed with tremendous care, love and creativity. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a photo of our specific room, as it was occupied by a family at the time.

The demand for this support is significant, and the complex is currently being expanded to include four additional family rooms. Georgia, the director of the organization, informed me today that they are always in need of volunteers who can spare some time occasionally. I warmly invite each of you to visit the Ronald McDonald House personally and witness the remarkable work being done there.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support of this project. It fills me with immense pride that we have collectively achieved this goal.

Warm regards,
Catrin Koring
Club Captain
Secret Valley Golf Resort

* I will continue to endeavor to create opportunities that we may also reach the €20,000. The facility urgently needs a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
