Update – Loukas Adamou

Hello everyone

The doctors at the Oncology Hospital have now decided on another course of treatment for Loukas.
On Monday 17 November he will begin a new course of immunotherapy treatment, but the protocol is different this time.  It seems that this will last about 6 months.  After the course of immunotherapy he will require another transplant but this time they must find a match.  It is hoped that his sister will make the match.
I know your thoughts will be with Loukas and his family as they all face another difficult Year.

Poppies

Hello everyone
I am very sorry but this year I am unable to sell poppies in support of veterans and families because the Government of Cyprus has refused to grant charitable status to the Royal British Legion.  Poppies may be sold only on Sovereign Base Areas. 
This decision is totally unfathomable!
Secret Valley Golf Club has raised considerable sums over the years and I feel very sad, that for this year at least, there will be no poppies available for members.
Thank you for your support over the years.

Thank You for Your Incredible Support- Our Family Room at the Ronald McDonald House

Dear Members,

I am delighted to inform you that we have not only reached our goal of €15,000 but have exceeded it by over €3,000 in just eight months! I want to extend my sincerest thanks to each and every one of you who contributed through your participation in our events, whether on the course, buying a number of the 150 Club , joining the Quiz Nights, or “rent” the Captain’s Charity Parking Place. A special shout-out goes to our sponsors this year, whose generosity has been instrumental in supporting this important project.

Today, we celebrated the symbolic handover of “our” family room. Room number 10 will now proudly showcase our SV logo as a door sign for the next three years. As you can see in the photos (photos and the video available on our website), the rooms have been designed with tremendous care, love and creativity. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a photo of our specific room, as it was occupied by a family at the time.

The demand for this support is significant, and the complex is currently being expanded to include four additional family rooms. Georgia, the director of the organization, informed me today that they are always in need of volunteers who can spare some time occasionally. I warmly invite each of you to visit the Ronald McDonald House personally and witness the remarkable work being done there.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support of this project. It fills me with immense pride that we have collectively achieved this goal.

Captain’s Day 2025 Photos and Video

Loukas Adamou

Dear Members
As many of you know I remain in contact with Loukas and his family. 
Today his Mum told me that following his most recent scan, sadly his cancer has returned.  His medical team have now to decide how to proceed following this recent diagnosis.
Please keep Loukas in your thoughts and prayers.

I would like to take the opportunity of Captains Day 2025 to express my heartfelt gratitude to all members who actively supported me and who would like to continue to support my goal of raising €15.000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. This amount will enable the RMDHC to cover the costs of maintaining a family apartment for a period of three years. Competitions Letter

Dear Members

I understand that our last email regarding competition formats caused some confusion and disappointment.  Our intention is to create  a fair playing field for golfers of all levels.  

With the introduction of 4 set divisions and corresponding tee colours, we had hoped to ensure fairness for all handicaps.

Not all aspects and sensitivities were taken into account, and the committee held a new vote on Sunday/Monday regarding the following regulations, with a majority voting in favor of introducing these tournament rules:

*   Four set divisions (classifications may need to be adjusted to WHS guidelines).

*   Multi-tee option for all players.

*    Men may play from the blue tee box and this tee has been sloped for the men.  This is an additional choice for male players.

We wish all Members enjoyment and success playing the SV course.
