It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our longtime member Stewart Cooper, who departed on Tuesday, December 30, after a long and difficult illness. His loss leaves not only a void in our club but also in the hearts of all who knew him.

Stewart was not only a passionate golfer but also a wonderful friend and person. He was sharing his jokes and making us laugh. Stewart was such an unforgettable character and he will be missed hugely by the members. 

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Pauline and his family during this difficult time. The memories of the moments we shared, the smiles, and the good times we had with him will forever remain in our hearts.

It is thanks to Brian Shuhbrook that today a pleasant working meeting with the Schöller Holdings Ltd , in Limassol, took place. As most members know, the German company “Schöller Holdings Ltd “ is now the new owner of the Secret Valley Golf Resort. I was particularly pleased that the Chairman, Heinrich Schöller himself, as well as his Chief Financial Officer Kyriakos and Alexander Schöller, Commercial Director, also participated. Everyone welcomed that this appointment to get to know each other could take place in a timely manner. In consultation with Mr. H. Schöller, I can name the points that specifically concern the concerns of the SVGR.

Let’s start with the most exciting.

– Membership fees: Expected no increase or only a moderate adjustment.

– Member club: the interest of the investor is that the membership base of the golf club is expanded and remains an integral part of the resort.

– Clubhouse: the investor will take into account the daily routine of the golf game during the planned renovation and extension work, as far as possible, so that no significant impairments are to be expected.

– Gastronomy: according to the first research of the Schöller Group, it is clear that the offer for food and drinks must be improved and the goal is that the offer is adapted to a sporty hotel standard. In the future, the offer will also be expanded at dinner times.

Presentation Dinner: since, according to my information, the event could not take place in the clubhouse, our Social Secretary tried to find an alternative location (Alexander the Great Hotel). Since we have no guarantee for this to take place, since the number of participants is uncertain, I have described the problem to Mr. Schöller. Heinrich Schöller reacted immediately and informed me that he would immediately check what alternative he could offer us. On the same day, he confirmed to me that our presentation dinner at the Columbiar Beach Resort could take place at the same conditions (€75 AI). This is an enormous concession, as we can now hold our presentation dinner as part of a 5* hotel.

– Buggies: surely some have wondered that our new buggies are roadworthy. These were leased by the investor, and the same are also used at the Columbia Resort. Alexander Schöller has recognised the problem with the handbrake and will check how our new buggies can be adapted for golf operation.

Overall, the meeting took place in an open atmosphere, and I am convinced that the Schoeller Group will also bring about positive changes in our golf club. Heinrich Schöller personally assured me that I can contact him at any time with the interests of the golf club and thus keep you up to date on important developments regarding the golf course in the future.
