150 Club Update

Hello current and future members of the 150 club,

As has been communicated by our Club Captain Mr Brian Shubrook, the 150 club will be run this year by myself, Sabina Hughes, with help from Diane Pownall.

The 2026 Captains Charity is the St Michael’s Hospice in Paphos. It is an independent, not for profit organisation, providing palliative and respite care since 2015.

The 150 club is a season long raffle with cash prizes that benefits the Captain’s charity. It is open to all members, their family and friends and any other guests. We would like to encourage you all to purchase a number and be in for a chance to win some great cash prizes.

Each number can be purchased for €50 and multiple numbers can be bought. There will be 11 draws throughout the year, the first being in March 2026. The final draw with a total cash payout of €1100 will be made at the presentation evening in January 2027.

The monthly prizes are as follows;

1st €100, 2nd €75, 3rd €50 and 4th €25

The final draw prizes in January 2027 are as follows;

1st €500, 2nd €300, 3rd €200 and 4th €100

We would like to invite all current members of the 150 club to confirm their continued membership. Your number allocation will remain as it is. We would encourage any newcomers to support this worthy charity by emailing us at [email protected] and [email protected]. You will then be allocated a number/s for the draw.

Payments can be made in the following manner:

  1. Cash paid direct to Sabina Hughes or Diane Pownall (club members).
  2. By a one off direct debit to Eurobank Account (previously Hellenic) in the name of Sabina Alison Hughes. IBAN REF CY68 0050 0595 0005 9510 K091 6201. It would be helpful if you include the reference of “150 club” and your full name.  (Please also email Sabina or Diane confirming the same.)
  3. Handed to the Pro Shop in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your name and 150 Club. (Please also email Sabina or Diane confirming the same).

Please make your payments prior to 10 March to be in with a chance of winning the first draw. We look forward to hearing from you all. Don’t forget you have to be in it to win it!

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Columbia Secret Valley Golf Club will be held at the Columbia Secret Valley Clubhouse on Saturday, 28 February 2026 at 15:00.

 

The AGM will be conducted by the Club’s Management on behalf of the Club.

Email to all Members from the Treasurer

Dear Members

 

My year as Treasurer of Secret Valley will end today, the 31st January 2026. The Financial Statement for January 2026 is posted on the website, together with a Summary Statement for 2025.  During the year, I tried to complete the financial data in a manner
that everyone understood the figures.  I have had very few comments on the published figures, so can only assume that I achieved my goal.

 

I was going to present a Balance Sheet at the AGM but as this has been postponed and no new date has been given, below is a quick overview of the figures from 1st Feb 2025 to the 31st Jan 2026:

Entry Income                                      21,140

 

Prize Money Paid                               19,822

 

Money to the OOM Fund                   1,170                     (Given as prizes at the EOY)

 

Money to the MCF                                   148.55               (Members’ Competition Fund)

 

Spend from the MCF                            1,318.93

 

Starting Balance of the MCF               2,660 + 148.55 – 1,318.93 = 1,489.62

 

A detailed breakdown of the above can be found on the website.  The Balance of the MCF has now been handed back to the Club, to pass on to the new Committee.  The 2025 Committee set a goal to reduce the MCF to Euros 1,500 and this has been achieved.

 

The Captain’s Charity, Ronald McDonald House Charity, received a total of Euros 19,467.21.

 

All details regarding Sponsors for the year are held directly by the Captain.

 

It has been reported for the last few years that any equipment held by the Club is of Nil value.  No new equipment was purchased this year.

 

I would personally like to thank the Competition Secretary, Jamie Evans, for all his help in the production of the Winners’ Sheets, the Webmaster, Willie El-Fakir, for publishing all the financial data on the website, and the Pro Shop for producing the winners’
vouchers, in a very timely manner.  Without their help my job as Treasurer would have been very onerous.

 

A huge thank you to the Comp Sec for his negotiating skills in getting 32 Club Trophies engraved.  Some labels had to be redone, a couple of new plinths had to be purchased, a new trophy was obtained, all for a cost of Euros 305.  A sum of Euros 260 was held
back from the KO’s and OOM comps for this purpose and, therefore, the balance of Euros 45 was taken from the MCF.  Six trophies remain to be updated and the fee for these will have to be taken from the MCF, as they are for competitions where no money was collected.

Good News – Bar Prices in the Clubhouse

Dear Members

Following a meeting today between Brian Shubrook and Steve Kizis, Food and Beverage Manager of Columbia Group Ltd , it has been agreed that the discount for members at the bar will be increased from 15% to 25% , with effect from tomorrow 22nd January.
This will be a temporary measure while the kitchen is being refurbished.
It is hoped that the kitchen will be fully operational by 14th February, and at this time Columbia will be issuing a new food and drink price list.

Dear Members,

As Club Captain, I am thrilled to see so many members, partners, and friends joining us for our Presentation Dinner on Saturday! With a total of 96 guests, it promises to be a special evening, and I can’t wait to welcome all of you.
Please arrive on time at 7pm. We will start with the program on time. 
For those of you who will be driving home safely, we will have non-alcoholic sparkling wine and wine available for a worry-free enjoyment! 
An important note: The entrance to the venue is located in the West Wing (former Columbia Beach Hotel). If you are staying at the hotel, please remember to drive to the reception of the Columbia Beach Resort. A shuttle service will be available to take you comfortably to the venue in the evening.
