Dear Secret Valley Members,
With the festive season rapidly approaching we would like to take this opportunity to inform you of this year’s Christmas Charity.
Over the past few years many of you have been extremely generous by providing gifts which were donated to the Theoskepatsi Special needs school in Paphos.
This year we have chosen to donate to the Paphos Ukrainian Refugee Centre. Some of our members are directly involved with volunteering at the Centre and we feel that this is an extremely worthy cause. The Centre is currently home to more than 150 children who range in age from 3 months to 16 years old.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated however, in an effort to collect items that the Children really need the Centre has provided us with a wish list and have also asked that any gifts donated are labelled with either Boy or Girl and which age range they are appropriate for.
· Socks
· Blankets
· English language childrens books
· Practical actives/ Games
· School stationary
· Sweets
· Slippers
· Warm clothing
We are hoping to deliver all gifts to the children on the 22nd of December therefore we would like to ask that any gifts that you wish to donate are placed underneath the Christmas tree in the clubhouse before that date.
Thank you in advance.

A special thank you to the 6 members ( out of a total membership of over 350 ) who responded to my appeal for funds, to enable the rental of apartments for the Refugees, and ease the present chronic overcrowding. These monies, together with a strong response from the Paphos community, has enabled me to rent 3 apartments for a minimum period of 6 months. To witness the families reaction as they move into their new apartments is worth all the effort involved.
A extra special BIG thank you to the member who has donated a 2 bedroom apartment in Paphos for a lengthy period. Very much appreciated.
I have now removed the basket for food etc, and this will be my last update.
But I received many verbal promises of support which have not yet been realised, so please contact me at [email protected] if you are willing to support further.

Hi Everyone
I met the Hope For Children charity organisers this morning. They are based in Limassol and have an official website set up for direct aid to Ukrainian families www. uncrcpc.org.cy
They have charity volunteers in all the main cities in Cyprus to assist the Refugees as they enter Cyprus, which now totals close to 4000 as at Thursday evening
I have been put in touch with the main contact in Paphos , Julia and am meeting her later this afternoon to discuss how we can better assist the families in the best possible way
There essential needs at this moment are :
Clothing for children 1-12 and their mothers
Nappies age 1-4 and baby powdered milk age 1-4 and long life milk
Dry and tinned food, rice and pasta
Toileteries,soap, shampoo,toothpaste,etc
Blankets,duvets,towels
Accomodation
Any cash donations will be used to buy some of the above items, as opposed to giving directly

Suggestions From the Floor:
· Boris Zilbermints presented a number of issues previously discussed with GM, which attendees agreed with unanimously as follows:
Operational Issues:
Ø Cleanliness of course toilets improved but on- going
Management Response: A review of existing cleaning staff has been presented to shareholders for final decision which if approved will greatly improve this issue.
Ø New Members Induction to SVGR expected golfing etiquette
Management Response: Adam Collinson will meet with Club Committee to establish acceptable protocols and induction meetings
Ø Children’s Golf Training
Management Response: Adam Collinson will present his 2022 teaching program very soon
Ø HWH presentation and menu update:
Management Response:
Shareholders are reviewing upgrade of the physical facility of the HWH
Hillar Hunt will be presenting revised and upgrade menus at HWH seasonally
Ø Respect for golf course greens
Management Response: Adam Collinson and his staff are committed to introducing protocols and enhanced oversite of this issue going forward, including course marshal and starter training and upselling training to golf shop staff. Current staff shortages present a continuing challenge in this regard which is being discussed with shareholders.
Ø Past Captains Honours Board Presentation and Update
Management Response: This is being attended to
Ø Opening and Closing Hours of Golf Shop and Caddy Master Service- uncertain and conflicting advice>
Management Response: Adam Collinson will confirm and advise both members and guests via web site, direct email to members and notice in golf shop.
Capex Issues
Ø Condition of Course Bunkers
Members agreed with Mr. Zilbermints that the current condition of the course bunkers were not generally to the high standard of the rest of our golf course and did not reflect the image SVGR wished to project to would be members and guests.
A motion was put to the floor, carried unanimously that members concern in this regard be formally communicated to shareholders by GM
Management Response:
1. There are currently 85 bunkers at SVGR
2. Derek Smith and GM have reviewed all bunkers and prioritised those bunkers most in needed of repair/upgrade (primarily refreshed sand but some new drainage and reshaping required on a number of bunkers due to initial poor construction specs.
3. Obtaining a reliable and consistent quality of sand has been presenting challenges (supply chain issues)
4. Management will present an upgrade plan for shareholders consideration.
5. Members will be advised of shareholder responses asap.
Thank you again to members who attended the AGM and all members are encouraged to communicatee comments suggestions or concerns to management either via your committee or directly as required.
Sincerely

Dear Secret Valley Golf Club Member,
It is that time of year again when we invite members to follow the tradition of the last two years by presenting a small wrapped Christmas present of your choice to be placed under the tree in the lounge.
All presents will be donated to Theoskepasti Special Needs Schools in Paphos and Limassol. Of course, any members who wish to assist Toma in the delivery of the presents are most welcome. I assure you, watching the joy and excitement displayed by the special needs children upon receiving their presents is priceless and a memory you will always treasure.
By way of clarification, our shareholders have elected not to extend their contract with Troon Golf effective 31st December, 2021.
The practical impact for members will be minimal in that existing management structures will remain, going forward.
For those members who have not already met both Adam Collinson, our new Director of Golf and Joe Lines, our newly appointed addition to Golf Services staff, please feel free to introduce yourselves personally when next at SVGR. Both Adam and Joe are wonderful additions to our team and we are look forward to the many changes they will collectively bring to SVGR going forward.
As you may be aware, the Cyprus Government has recently introduced new protocols to further protect us all from the on – going effects of Covid-19.
Details of the updated protocols can be read on official government Covid-19 related web sites. Relevant signage as to those protocols are now also displayed in the golf shop.
In summary, we are legally obliged to ensure all members and guests provide golf shop staff a legally compliant electronic “Safe Pass”
Any member or guest unable or unwilling to provide such information will be refused the right to play golf, practice or enter our restaurant facilities to ensure we are legally compliant and of course, to ensure the safety of our staff, members and guests.
The Club AGM will be held at SVGR on Saturday 22nd January2022.
Details as to the agenda will be sent to you in the next few days, together with membership dues details for 2022.
For those members who are returning to visit loved ones in their home countries over the next few days, please travel safe and enjoy your visit home.
Stay safe and keep warm.
